The Felmersham & Radwell Parish Plan - 2006
Transport

The public bus services between the villages and local towns and neighbouring villages are infrequent, if at all. Several people remarked that, even if they wished to use public transport, the timetabling was unsuitable for commuting. More than three-quarters of respondents use a car to reach their place of work or study and the majority of households have the use of at least one car.

The local authority provides bus transport for students to the Middle and Upper schools, both situated outside the Parish. Felmersham & Radwell Community Care organize a scheme to provide emergency transport by volunteers for visits to health services. The Villager Community Minibus provides timetabled transport to a number of shopping centres as well as being available for private hire.

Background Action Partners
Some people in the villages need help with transport A small number (9 to 16) of respondents needed help getting to medical facilities, dentist, post office or the supermarket.  These were mainly elderly people but young adults also cited this as a problem.    Liaise with Felmersham & Radwell Community Care to determine if additional services need to be provided or if better promotion of what already exists is required.

Commercial bus service The majority of the respondents thought that the timetabling was ‘poor’ and that the routes, punctuality and costs were ‘fair’.

Convey these results to the bus company.

Liaise with the service providers to establish whether more routes are required.

Villager Community Minibus Most respondents rated this service as ‘good’ but few Radwell residents declared their use of this service. Communicate findings to the Villager Community Minibus operators particularly with respect of the possibility of routes picking up in Radwell.
