Chairman’s Report AGM PFCC 2011
A brief
report this year! Firstly unless another candidate comes
forward and if acceptable to the club I will continue as
Chair for the coming year but urge that efforts to find
a new body are earnestly undertaken.
Playing, I
am pleased with the way the Smith Arms have come into
PFCC, and wish to congratulate the Saturday team for a
successful season. The challenge for the next year is to
integrate further all players and to look at how we can
make players want to be clubmen.
The Sunday Team has great spirit and they have enjoyed
their cricket, however getting a full complement every
Sunday has become a burden that is no longer tolerable.
We have
taken a brave and controversial step next year to not
schedule Sunday Cricket and withdraw from the Sunday
League. If someone wishes to organise a team we will
support that activity and help find fixtures.
Instead of Sunday Cricket we have agreed to run two
teams on a Saturday in the new Invitational League, this
will be new and challenging and I ask all members to
support this activity.
On a Sunday
mornings our plan is to start coaching and practice sessions,
with a view to creating a development 11, possibly a few
matches in 2012 with a view to entering a Sunday league in
2013.
To support our development plans for all ages we plan to
install a practise track. To fund this we need grant money, to
obtain grant money we need to hold Club Mark status.

Bedfordshire
County Cricket is leading us in gaining Club Mark and
supporting us in particular with youth development plans and
delivery.
To make our development plans work we need members’ support
and participation to gain coaching and other qualifications.
If we do not create a development facility we will not attract
and retain the juniors and senior players the club requires to
continue playing league and friendly cricket in Pavenham.
The functions
and fund raising have gone well again this year and my thanks
to all who work tirelessly to make this happen, again new
blood and commitment is needed, to much is being done by too
few.
In terms of our functions we need to continue to revitalise
and understand what function is aimed at what demographic, in
particular we need functions that players want, will assist
with and will attend.
I hope you agree
with me that the new changing room facilities are looking very
impressive and set a new standard for facilities at the
village playing field.
Finally thank you to the committee, VPs and all members who
support the club in whatever way. I look forward to your
support and commitment for the New Year and the many new
challenges we have set ourselves. |
